India is a land of beauty and adornment with colors, textures, and patterns abound. It's also a place of curiosities. Mash these two things together, the surprising with the decorative, and you'll find some pretty unique things.
One of my favorite examples of this is the beautifully incongruous hand-painted semi truck. All across the subcontinent, from south to north, what would in other countries be regular drab carriers of goods are instead colorful hand-painted works of art. These trucks drive up and down India carrying everything from cotton and sugar cane, to oil and water. The brilliant colors and unlikely care of the brushwork always capture my attention.
Of course it's not just semi trucks that are colorfully decorated, it's tractors and buses, too.
